Google finally announced Google Hangouts, a unified cross-platform messaging service. Google Hangouts will integrate all the current messaging services offered by Google. So from now Google Talk, Google+ Hangouts, Google+ Messaging will come under one name Google Hangouts. This revamped messaging service will be available on all platforms. Computer, Android, Apple devices all are supported. Platform fragmentation is a big problem among all the popular messaging services. So lately all messaging services are feeling the importance of all platform compatibility. WhatsApp is hugely popular messaging service for mobiles but there is no way to use WhatsApp on PC. Google Hangouts is coming with lots of cool new features to enhance our communication experience. Firstly it will have a unified user interface design. So it will look same on all platforms. Just like any other Google services you just need to have a Google account in order to use Google Hangouts. Google+ Sign in also works if you have a Google+ account. Hangouts lets you chat with your friends and family. You can share photos and videos and there are hundreds of emoji to make the chatting experience enjoyable. You can invite your Google+ friends or add any contact by providing their email address. You can see when your friends are typing; you can initiate group chat and video calling any time. Group video calling is limited to 10 people.
Google Hangouts will be synchronized with all your devices. You can start chatting on one device and continue chatting on other devices. If you have seen one chat notification and deleted it from your mobile phones, it will be automatically get deleted from your computer and tablet. Everything will be synchronized. This is surely a great feature.
All your conversations will be stored on Google Hangouts. You can get back to old conversations to relive your memory. This can be a privacy concern for some users. Fortunately there is a way to delete old conversations. However, there to no global settings to ‘Go off the record’ by default. So if you don’t want to save any conversations, you need to ‘Turn history off’ individually. Google Hangouts doesn’t support ‘Invisible’ mode, unlike Google Talk.

Note: Google Hangouts will replace Google Talk. You may not be able to install Google Hangouts from Google Play at this time due to this conflict. There is a workaround to solve the problem. Download Google Hangouts .apk file and install on your Android device.
Google Hangouts definitely looks promising. The cross-platform compatibility is the biggest advantage of Google Hangouts over other chatting services like WhatsApp, Viber, Skype or BBM. Currently Hangouts is available for Android, iOS, Google Chrome (Through an extension). Google needs to make it available for more platforms like BlackBerry, Windows Phone and other mobile operating system to gain more popularity.

Thanks! I’ve just added the official demo video 🙂
Yesterday my smartphone got updated with Hangout at the place of Talk. But being more used to with Google Talk interface, I not much like hangout. But the video chat addition is really a welcoming feature. I feel Hangout interface is much more similar to Whats App.
