How to use WhatsApp on PC using WhatsApp PC Client? [Full Guide]
WhatsApp doesn’t need any introduction. It is one of the most popular cross-platform messaging application. Every day millions of users use WhatsApp to stay connected with friends, family and loved ones. WhatsApp Messenger is available for almost all mobile operating systems like Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Symbian. However, there is no WhatsApp for PC and web based chat client or software is not available for computer. This may not be a big issue for most users. But for me it is a serious a problem. I hate typing on mobile phones, I always prefer physical keyboard over touch screen keyboards. So when I’m using the computer I always wanted to use WhatsApp on the computer to chat with friends. Fortunately, there is still a way to use install and use WhatsApp on PC. We know that there are some Android emulators like BlueStack and YouWave which allows to run Android apps and games on computers. We can use these software to use WhatsApp on computer in a similar way. There is also an unofficial WhatsApp client for PC called ‘Wassapp’ that can be used for this purpose. I’ll be discussing the both ways of using WhatsApp on PC or laptop.

Guide to use WhatsApp on PC:
Method 1:Using Android Emulators
In this tutorial I’ve used BlueStack App Player because it is free and works on both Windows and Mac. Using BlueStack we can use WhatsApp on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and latest Windows 8. BlueStack needs a powerful computer with dedicated graphics card to run all Android apps and games smoothly. First download and install BlueStack App Player on your computer. Once installation is complete you will be greeted with the BlueStack home screen.
We can install both free and paid Android apps and games on BlueStack from Google Play Store, Amazon App Store, Get Jar and 1Mobile. To install any apps on BlueStack, click on the ‘Search’ icon on top right corner. A new windows will open where you can enter the name of applications or games. In this screen type ‘WhatsApp’ and click on ‘Find’ button. You will get many alternative options to install the app, select any one and hit the ‘Install’ button.
Start WhatsApp Messenger on BlueStack and enter your phone number. Keep in mind that WhatsApp doesn’t allow to use the same phone number on more than one device. So you have to use any new mobile phone number or use a home phone number instead. WhatsApp will try to verify the phone number automatically but the verification process will fail. Then it will show a screen where you can manually enter the 6 digit verification code. If you don’t receive the verification code you can use the ‘Call me’ option. You will get a call from WhatsApp with the verification code.
Once the verification process is complete you will be able to create your account and add contacts. Now you are ready to use WhatsApp Messenger on computer.
Method 2: Using unofficial WhatsApp PC client
Wassapp: WhatsApp for PC Client:
There is another way to use WhatsApp on PC. An unofficial WhatsApp client for PC has been developed by a company called Low Level Studio. The WhatsApp computer client is called ‘Wassapp’. While it is not the prettiest chat client, it gets the job done. Wassapp works on all Windows versions like Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. I’ve tested this WhatsApp desktop client on my computer running Windows 8 and it worked perfectly.
Wassapp is available as a dedicated Windows installer package which around 11 MB in size. Start Wassapp after completing installation process. On the welcome screen you will get two options, log in to your existing WhatsApp account or register a new account.
If you are already using WhatsApp on a mobile phone you need to enter the phone number and password. If you are using an Android phone then password is the IMEI number of the phone. Apple iPhone users need to inter Wi-Fi Mac address in the password field.
When I was testing it, I didn’t have WhatApp account, so I selected Register option. To register a new account, select your country first then enter the mobile phone number. Now you have to enter IMEI number of any mobile or WI-Fi Mac address if you have an iPhone. Next, select method of receiving the WhatsApp verification code and click on ‘Request Code’ button. Now you will receive the verification code either by SMS or by call. Enter the code you have received and proceed to the next screen. A password will be generated for your account, copy the password and login to Wassapp using it.
Once you have logged into the WhatsApp for PC client, you will be welcomed with a streamlined chat window. You can either add contacts or import existing phone contacts. Once WhatsApp contacts are added you can start chatting with them. Wassapp supports smilies and file sharing through attachments. It also supports group chatting and ‘Last seen’ feature. So it is basically a full-fledged WhatsApp for PC. You will get notification when you receive a new message, but for that you need to keep the software open in the background.
Share this tutorial with friends and start chatting on WhatsApp from computer.

Update your Graphics Driver.
If its Intel graphic card then go to Intel website and download.
If its ATI Radeon then go to AMD website and download the latest driver.

Yes, Bluestack needs a powerful computer to perform properly. Earlier versions of YouWave were free but now it has become a paid software.

I can see that lots of users find problem on importing contact list to bluestack.
May be this will help.
\\If you don’t want to inset contacts one by one there is very simple solution for that , Backup of contact list in your pc now it can be in format of vcf or .csv (you can easyly export it from your device)
Now Open up your bluestack app and download astro file maneger,
Then put the contact list file on the following folder.
C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\SharedFolder
Go to your astro app that you have install find the file and click on it , it will get update your bluestack contact list.
I tried do this & it worked fine but my sim was blocked saying YOUR PHONE NUMBER 91 XXXX XXX XXX IS NO LONGER ALLOWED TO USE OUR SERVICES.
This happened twice to me & just 5 hours of working. The first time I wrote to them but no reply yet, so I request you all to take care on this or loose your number for ever.

Yes, you can use Skype on Windows 8. There are two Skype versions available, one is Modern UI styled Skype and another one is regular version.

You can use same phone number on mobile too. You have to just install Whatsapp on mobile and verify it. Whatsapp doesn’t allow to use same number on two devices simultaneously.

You can change your Status from Whatsapp Android app if you are using BlueStack. It is not possible on Wassapp client.

I tried posting a query yesterday but seems like it did not go through.
I have a mobile phone (I use an iPhone5) on which I have installed whatsapp which as you can imagine is specific to and related to my phone number.
The predicament is my office wi-fi does not permit alien devices to log in.
So my specific question is “Can we have whatsapp installed on my PC (I have windows 7 Enterprise on my PC); which currently relates to my phone number so that I can access my whatsapp chats and messages on my PC (while I’m in the office) AND while I’m home access it through my phone using my home wi-fi”?
OR would it be that once I have downloaded and installed (as per the method you’ve suggested i.e. using bluestack) whatsapp on my PC; the whatsapp on my phone becomes inactive or non-usable?
I would greatly appreciate a response from you.

I just tested it. Once you have verified WhatsApp on your computer, the app will stop working on your mobile phone. So every time you have to verify your account when you switch between WhatsApp pic client and mobile app.

Hi Punit, have you tried both methods mentioned in the article? Using WhatsApp using Bluestack will be easier for you as it doesn’t require mobile phone IMEI number.

Make sure you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed along with Microsoft .Net 4. Your antivirus software or firewall may be blocking Wassapp. Try disabling antivirus and firewall during registration process.

Hi Amit, the screenshot looks little different. If you are unable to install WhatsApp from any app stores try getting the .apk file of WhatsApp and install it.

Hi Vinayak, you need to install Vista Service Pack 2. Just use the Windows Update to get the update or download the SP 2 update separately and install on your computer.

Yes, it partially supports group chats. If you are already part of any group then you can continue chatting with that group. But you will not be able to create a new group chat.

To add contact on Bluestack follow this step:
Click on the ‘Add contact’ next to the search icon on top right corner.
Now it will display ‘No WhatsApp contacts’, next click on the Menu key which can be found on bottom left corner. Now click on ‘Contacts’, again click on Menu icon and you will get an option to ‘Add contact’.

Okay, whatsapp did in fact install correctly. I neglected to put 011 in front of the Brazilian cellphone numbers so I thought the software had installed incorrectly.
I can view photos shared by my whatsapp contacts but they can only be seen in the chat threads and not saved to my computer. Also, why can’t I send photos from my notebook to my whatsapp contacts? Hi, How can I install whatsapp on my iPad mini without jailbreak, I’ve already tried the traditional method, the one using iPhone, doesn’t work for me.

I was able to install Bluestacks however I currently don’t have a working phone, so I’m not able to get the validating number. If I try using someone else’s to receive the message it links to their account, switching the accounts again prompts that a text be sent, any suggestions?
