Previously I’ve shown how to create a Android mobile application from blog’s RSS feed. In this post I’m going to show you how to create a Symbian mobile application which will be compatible with Symbian^3 mobiles (Nokia N8,E7) and Symbian 5th Edition mobiles (N97,Nokia 5800) and some Symbian 3rd edition mobiles. It hardly takes 5 minutes to build a Symbian application from blog’s RSS feed. Using Nokia’s OVI App Wizard we can create and publish Symbian mobile application in Nokia OVI Store which can be accessed by millions of Nokia mobiles.
Before following this tutorial you can download and test Tech2Go official Android and Symbian application
This is second installment of series of tutorials on creating Mobile applications from blog RSS feed. [See Part 1]
Tutorial To Create Symbian Application from RSS Feed
To Create Symbian Application first we need to create an account in OVI App Wizard . Now log in to your account and select Build a New application. There are total 4 steps which you need to follow.
In step 1 give your blog’s RSS feed address, twitter account feed address etc. There are three different viewing styles available, you can select any one from those. Live preview of the application is shown in right side.
When you are satisfied with the layout of the Symbian supplication click Next Step to go to step 2
In next page you can customize the application in many ways. Upload a logo for your application, select an application icon, select background color, text color, link color etc.
When customization is done click Next Step to go to step 3
In Step 3 you can monetize your Symbian mobile application by showing Advertisements inside it. This step is optional.
In final step you have to give details about your mobile application like Application description for Nokia OVI Store, keywords for the app. Select App category and App distribution and Price of the application.
When everything is done click Finish to create the application.
Now you can submit the Symbian Mobile Application to Nokia OVI Store. The best thing is that publishing an application in Nokia OVI store is free unlike Android Market where you need to pay $25 for publishing application in Android Market.
Wait for 3-4 days for approval in Nokia OVI store. When your application is approved then you can share the application via Nokia OVI Store.
