How to Secure Wireless Router by Following 5 Killer Tips
Browsing and surfing web is no more a safe thing these days, especially when you are doing this in the public and in internet cafes you need to be careful that you escape from vicious eyes of hackers. It is always important to protect your router from the hackers.
Five of the most important tips that you need to do to prevent hacking of your wireless router will go like the below list,
1. Change the default router password:
The best way to secure your wireless network is to change the password of your router from the simple default one to the complex, secret and unique password, which only you will be aware of. The password should be a strong one, meaning this should contain not only alphanumeric characters but also symbols. If your wireless router is hacked, then this is not much of an issue to hack the entire wireless networks that are interconnected. Hence is worth trying to keep your wireless network password the strongest.
2. Disable SSID Broadcast:
Yet another component that can make your wireless network secure is by disabling SSID broadcast. As those who try to hack your network need to first discover the presence of your network, they will probably not be able to do so if disable the SSID broadcast, thereby, you will not be a victim of network hacking.
3. Use of Firewall:
It is better not to get carried away with the default settings of your wireless network that you should think about opting in for a more resilient and powerful firewalls to track down the hackers and prevent them from being successful. As most of the routers have in-built firewalls all you need to do is only to switch them on. If not you may have to download one and install.
4. Change Default IP of Your Wireless Router:
A hacker will probably be trying to take over your entire router settings, and therefore is critical that you camouflage them. One of the most important thing that the hackers use to hack into your network is the IP address, and is no big deal for them to get your IP address, and one of the things that you need to do is to keep changing your IP address intermittently.
5. Use a Strong Encryption Key:
One of the other major steps towards making your wireless network stronger and secure is by using an encryption key, which is an optional option that comes with the wireless router. If you want to ensure a secure connection it is very necessary that you develop a WEP key, which contains usually alphabets, numbers and symbols. Breaking this encryption key can take some time, giving you time to get noticed that someone is trying to hack you and therefore you will even have the time to change your IP address and settings before the hacker hack you in entirety.

Comments are always appreciated!!
Nobody believes that their Wifi AP could be hacked and their neighbor could be a hacker.
NOTE: Never use a WEP, because WEP key can be decrypted in less than 10 minutes even when you were using all security measures. So switch to better encryption/authentication viz. WPA/WPA2 (without WPS enabled) with PSK + CCMP.
