Nokia N900 Gets Portrait Mode From Community Firmware Update
The long-awaited portrait mode support is coming to Nokia N900. We know that Nokia N900 runs Linux based Maemo 5 operating system. Maemo 5 is mainly landscape oriented, except Phone application N900 does not support portrait mode. The last official firmware PR 1.3 brought some portrait mode support in browser and some other apps after pressing short cuts in keyboard. But full portrait support did not come from Nokia. Now the Maemo community have come up with their own Community Firmware which fixes many bugs and brings most awaited portrait mode support in Nokia N900.
So what’s working in Portrait mode?
The menu rotates in portrait mode. Settings, Conversations, Contacts,E-mail, X-Terminal etc. are working in portrait mode without any problem. Status menu now works in portrait mode also. So this update help us to use N900 is single handed. Currently home screens does not support portrait rotation but in future it may support. Who know what’s next is coming in future for N900?
